[we had no intention of being out on the water today but we met a fellow 'boatanic' who happens to own a vintage ferry which he now operates as a cruise boat (shown below)... it had been out on the harbour for NYE... he was doing a 'pump run' and invited us on board for the trip. As if we would ever say no to that.]
The 'yonder ponder'...
We went to see the First Emperor: China's Entombed Warriors. Magnificent. And eerie. As befitting such majestic, awe-inspiring evidence of history.
...Although the wonder of it is tarnished for me by the indulgence of the kings of yore and the cruelty that went with their afterlife exaltation. [The artisans and sculptors, etc were sealed in the tomb...so that they would never sell their stories to the tabloids... J... hmmm... ].
Still... even though I would have prefered to see them in China, it was magic to be able to see them at all.
MORE PICS AFTER THE JUMP!
This image is not actually for the blog... it's too messy!! But oh what the heck...

Sigh! Wish I stayed somewhere nearer to the ocean......I just LOVE being near the sea!! Looking bright & lovely in Fuschia......love the white framed shades & the way your earrings have heart-shaped cutouts, while your ring is a heart shape itself!! :)
You look nice.
I like the red ring.

You look so happy! And the weather looks great, I am so tired of the winter already here in L.A.! I hope you had a very Happy New Year and a bery blessed one to come! Glad to have met you doll! xo -Taj
I love the ocean too, I lived in the Caribbean when I was little. These shots are gorgeous and the museum exhibit sounds amazing. I actually really like the lavender bay shot, whether or not the background was busy.
How beautiful you look in that fiery colour! I also love your white sunnies and your shoes/bag combo are fab. Sarah xxx
You are wearing my favorite color. And you are looking stunning in it.
I am amazed how you want to put only perfect pictures on your blog, unlike lesser mortals like me, who puts anything and everything because I do not know how to take as brilliant shots as you.
But the good news is, that this year in July, I am joining a month long photography course. Then, hopefully, I will start putting some brilliant shots. (Fingers crossed). Till then, I will torture my readers with bad photography and probably give a sadistic grin.
What a wonderful way to start the New Year! You are looking gorgous and beautiful as ever... Wishing you an exciting, exhilirating, adventurous, happy 2011!
I'm not a water person at all but I have more like a wooden personality at times so I guess I'll love water persons anyway! ;)
Red and pink is so spunky, Dusk!
Oh I do so envy your location and lifestyle, Dusk! We're miles from the sea, in fact I only ever see it when I'm in Goa.
Such vibrant colours and beauty, minsd you I'd expect nothing less! xxx
Hot pink looks fab on you! Ahh Sydney Harbour how I miss you...
:)you definitely add color to the blogosphere... liking the subtle gold wrists in the pink dominated world!
A delightful way to swan your way into 2011. That colour looks divine on you. I Adore the first picture. Happy new year to you.
I wish I could sit with you and sip tea and share conversation;-)
Happy new year! What great colours! We watched the Sydney fireworks on TV while watching the (*slightly* less spectacular) real ones from a balcony near the beach in Victoria. Didn't experience any envy whatsoever :)
I was thinking of seeing the warrior exhibition, will have to see if I can think up an excuse to get to Sydney... but also want to see the Ballets Russe exhibition in Canberra...
Dear Dusk,
Thank you for the lovely post with deep thoughts, beautiful photos and a wonderful sense of humor. ("Qin? Iss that chu?" (geddit?? geddit??? hahahahahahahahaha!!! sheesh...) May 2011 will be a wonderful year for you and your family!!
Best wishes, Sadami
Love the colors you are wearing! So fresh! And I love the ocean also, just came back from the Canary Islands outsiden of Africa:)
This is a GREAT color on you. Striking!
I do not know what it is that you do but every posture you create makes me think of a dancer's movement....does it have anything to do with your years of training in classical dance? Have you ever noticed this?
BTW I am finally starting to learn katthak.....a bit late but better late than never right. Wish me luck.
Look forward to hearing from you
Love
