Also because I forgot to state the 7 things mentioned in the previous [Award] post. So...
1. It is my dream, wish, hope and intention to become a Flamenco teacher, after I complete my Flamenco Diplomas. So I'll be old then. There are a lot of cursos... and yes I am wearing leg warmers and fugly sockettes. It was cold today okay? (heading in to Winter here)
2. Indians have this belief of Ayurvedic 'agni'... our inner fire... this is what keeps us vital, vibrant, alive and full of life. We need to keep this fire stoked. This is the point of the title of this post. Flamenco fuels this fire.
As do all the other things I do -Bikram Yoga, Polenastics, Aerial, Taiko, Boxing, shopping....kidding! Sort of.
...it's not just the physical activity though...but I'll leave that to another post.
3. Even though I appear gregarious and by no means am I a wallflower nor shy (pffttt)... I am surprisingly reserved. At first.
4. I am fructose intolerant. That's right. I am allergic to fruit. sob.
5. I cannot say Scottish without saying it in a Scawttish accent. See?
6. Even though I used to be a jazz singer, I suck at Karaoke.
7. When I grow up I want to be Modesty Blaise.

PS... I am great in karaoke. That's a Filipino thing I guess. I've never seen a Filipino who's not good at karaoke. :-)

I absolutely LOVE that skirt, it's ultra-feminine! It's great that you're so heavily involved in Flamenco, it's a tremendously pasionate form of dance. My wife and I saw a performance which I reviewed in my November 13th post on my "Life In Quotations" blog.
BTW, my extended family is Indian (Hindu). One of them is a fairly prominent figure in the religious community and I had an amazing conversation a while ago with him about reincarnation. It's a fascinating culture!

@ Leah - re fruit, yes hon, as Sabine says, it's no joke. Fructose is a very bad form of sugar, most people can digest it but we all eat far too much fruit.
I used to devour fruit -bananas, mangos, passionfruit, pineapples, watermelons, grapes- and now just looking at anything makes me pass out!
@ Taj - then you absolutely understand the fire I speak of hon! Flamenco is such a volcanic form of expression. It HAS to come from within and build-up to explode, well, everything does, all forms of dance.
I was a professional jazz singer for about 15 years. I still sing, mainly in the shower (!) but for friends, family, etc.
@ Sonali - as I explained on your blog, I work/write best in the early hours, I go to sleep at 3am and only need 3-5 hours sleep a day.

Think of Bharat Natyam and Kathak (I used to dance Kathak) and think about Shiva. Lord of the Dance. Natarajan.
All cultures and races revere (or have originaly done so) dance as an expression of innate spirituality. The Celtics, the Turks, Native Americans, aborigines of all countries, etc, etc.
...what I meant about Flamenco fueling my fire was that it teaches how to control the 'explosion'. It teaches how to build a fire to last at will. Am I making any sense??? You should find a teacher! You are already a dancer so you will completely love this!
My teacher, who is one of Australia's most foremost respected teachers and the only representative of the Allianza Syllabus, says that you only truly become a flamenco dancer when you have lived a life well lived.
This is why older flamenco dancers are more in 'demand'.

Most religions are really, it's the human interpretation and motive that sullies the wisdom.
@ Romany - it's not the nerves so much hon (not for me, not for you either!) it's the lack of key control and the horrible mike settings, too muc treble, etc. Sometimes it's best NOT to know the technicalities!
...plus...once you're a singer, you sing in your own style. Hard to follow the monotone karaoke format. fun though! I don't mind making a fool of myself!

You're an amazing woman. Honestly! I'm so sorry that you're allergic to fruit. How'd you find that out? I thought that was IMPOSSIBLE. But the list of allergies nowadays are becoming plentiful.
