I'm a showpony...

Warning:
This is an ePIC post... Lots of pics.  Being worth thousands of words and all that.  Still... I can't help myself.  I love the sound of my own keyboard.  I should have stopped at "...all that."

Anyway.  The title is not just a reference to my vanity flair...I'm a three show pony with this post.  A flamenco floor show, the Boat Show and... gulp... me, the no show.  eek.  I've been M.I.B.
I never know whether or not to apologise for these 'disappearances'.  It seems rather odd to do so.  Assumption on top of indulgence.  I understand that posts are "eagerly" awaited, I feel this with blogs I follow.  BUT... still.

Maybe if my blog was more than just the aforementioned Vanity Flair, then I would feel an apology is in order.
... I have been pondering the point of my blog.  Have been doing so ever since one of my favourite bloggers and all round Mistress of Fabulous, Tanvi, wrote this post... I'm coming up with answers, I'll let you know once I'm certain.

One of the things I love about Tanvi is her unflinching honesty about who she is but most interestingly, what she isn't.  She doesn't hold back any aspect of her personality.  Like here

I do that.  I hold back.  And that's annoying me.  BECAUSE... everywhere else I am read and heard, I am polite yet blunt about who I am and what I like and how I think.   Here... I am just...polite.  I don't know why.  So I think that's why I disappear for long stretches of time.  I'm not giving full voice to my personal style blog... me who has always believed that style expression is a passport to personality.

...eek...and then I come back with epics and sagas.  It's...Wore and Peace.
hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha!!!!!!!!!!!!!  Yes I am an idiot.

Okay.  Enough of all that.   I wore this on Sunday to the Boat Show...which to us, is a bit like what the Playboy Mansion is to a 14yo boy!!  After the jump... the show goes on...

This is my youngest son.  He's my spin doctor here!  I was trying to get an effect but it didn't work when leaning out!  The second shot is what this feels like when you get off it!!  My sense of balance was severely tested then!

We performed last weekend for a private function... just some of the troupe... many missing.

Hooray, you're back! Those boats look amazing but you look totally abulous as always. I adore that sweet cropped jacket on you and those yummy cobalt pants and I'd kill for a chance to dress like a flamenco dancer.
Tanvi is a new discovery, she is a wonder. xxx

You perform Flamenco? wow. I lurveee all your pics- even in the previous posts. The way they are shot. This one, with that spinning effect is also so nice. You are stunningly beautiful and give great shots.

OMG! I am speechless. You were right this IS 'Scary Good' ;) ... The admiration is mutual here. I like how you are unapologetic about who you are. You do things which are extension of your personality. I aspire to manage my life with so many dimension like you do! I absolutely adore your photos from the Boat Show. The colors of the outfit define you so well.

P.S. Your youngest is absolutely in awe of you in that picture! Very sweet!

Well, Dusk dear, I, for one, don't think that it's presumptuous to attempt to explain your absence, because I definitely miss you and think of you when you're not posting! I mean, it's almost 2 am here - I should be in bed, but I saw that you had updated and here I am instead!

I also wonder, sometimes, about *why* I blog. In my personal life, I am very outspoken and opinionated, yet if you were to read my blog you would probably think that I just like pretty things and don't really talk much. I like to study - and argue about :P - politics, history, languages, development, etc. but I don't do so on my blog. People who know me think that my blog doesn't represent the kind of person I am AT ALL, but I think we are all multifaceted beings, and I use my blog as an 'escape' from the issues that I immerse myself in during daily life. I think that's my way of staying sane - indulging in little pretty pleasures with like-minded people (because, to be honest, my university friends think it's "frivolous" to care about fashion... *cue rolling of eyes*).

Anyway, I seem to have written you an essay (!) but I meant to say that after a lot of soul-searching, I realised that I blog as a form of escape from everyday life. And I get to interact with an amazing range of people online - not that 'real life' people aren't interesting, but this way you really get a varied scope of different ages/nationalities/walks of life that you may not encounter on your daily wanders!

Well, I hope you find out why you want to blog. I think the most important thing is NOT to blog 'because other people like to see ___'. For example, I know that people like to see outfits (I mean, I can't blame them - I love to see what others are wearing) but I don't *force* myself to take pictures/get dressed up on a day where I just feel like lounging around sans-make-up. I blog about things that *I* enjoy - and if others do, too, then that's great, and if not, I won't worry about it!

Your stripey-nautical outfit is *perfect* for the boat show, and yay, you showed us another member of your family! I want to see more! I want to see your beautiful daughter and loving husband, too!! That second psychadelic picture is awesome.

Right, now that I've written an epic saga of my own, I had better shut up and go to bed! ;)

dusk, you're pretty as always. there's something about you that's very inspiring, very genuine, and to be honest, i always have this feeling that you're someone very fun to hang out with.

i think you're like tanvi. both of you are very inspiring!

i like how you blog about positive things in life; you know, that's a blessing for someone with a gloomy nature like me!

I KNOW EXACTLY WHAT YOU MEAN!
Every time I talk to you, haha we're not really talking merely typing to one another (but it sure as hell feels like talking), I feel as though I'm sparring with you about what you think and what I think that you think... I shouldn't say sparring, it doesn't seem nice, or use so many "thinks" for that matter. Maybe more along the lines of what you apply to my blog, I apply to yours and disregard what you say about my blog.Lol.

But this, this post was a happy medium. On another note, I love the dancing outfit! The guy looks absolutely.. happy. I don't mean to be mean, or rude, but he reminds me of one of the little men from the Skittles' taste the rainbow commercials.

Now, I shall go check out Tanvi's posts! And go stalk her blog for a bit... Oh, and I like your outfit for the boating gig. Very... red, white, and blue :P

P.S. And you do have a unique and stylistic voice in the blogging world...I hope you don't decide to leave it!! We all share different facets of our personalities and voices depending on the situation - and just because you're not putting yourself out there full force doesn't mean that you're any less genuine. Just what you choose to share is what people can respond to and relate it, and I think that's important, even if it's only a small part of who YOU are! Take heart~

Hello there!
It's an odd concept, isn't it? Apologising for a disappearance... I feel weird for doing it, and weird for not doing it. So I say, just do what makes you comfortable, your readers will appreciate your presence when you apologise for a lack of it or not. :)
This is lovely, the colours in your boat show outfit are so vibrant! It'd be difficult not to notice you. I love that you flamenco dance, it's something we need more of in this world.

re: your comment, yes I do believe young Priscilla is smoking! The only explanation I can give is, well, it was the 60s go figure hehe. Or, she could just be a very young-looking woman?

The internet beast will be tamed soon hopefully, and then I look forward to being more of a presence around here! :)
How have you been in the meantime?

i think i understand what it is your saying. as the other comments above state, this is your space to do with as you wish. it's not a 9a-5p job where you HAVE to punch in and post daily, nor is this your life. It's just an extra space of your reflection.
this is true for everyone who blogs. we all know what our respective blog spaces represents. life has no rules and random things will take up your time and energy.
no need to apologize, really. you are not obligated to have to write daily in here. your readers will miss you, but seriously, do what ya need to do.
