Water... My Friend...

"Empty your mind, be formless, shapeless - like water. Now you put water into a cup, it becomes the cup, you put water into a bottle, it becomes the bottle, you put it in a teapot, it becomes the teapot. Now water can flow or it can crash. Be water, my friend." - Bruce Lee

Bruce Lee is a role model for me.  I say "is" because his words never stop resonating with me.  His "water" quote is one 'tool' I use, to prepare for a challenge.

...but I chose this particular quote for a reason... water can be as devastating as it is restoring and now, the people of Japan and indeed the world must become water... the healing aspect.  The ability to adapt aspect.  The flowing aspect after the crash.   I hope my words don't come across as trite wordplay because I am devastated by the tragedy.  Like everyone else I feel so helpless.
Scientifically I understand what is happening.  Spiritually too. The reasons upset me but I stay logical but emotionally... I am devastated.  2011 has brought one global natural disaster after another, so easy to be drained by this all and I'm not sure about you but I suffer terribly from 'survivors guilt'.
However, human beings are a resilient species and the waves of change must keep rolling...

If you always put limit on everything you do, physical or anything else. It will spread into your work and into your life. There are no limits. There are only plateaus, and you must not stay there, you must go beyond them.” - Bruce Lee

My thoughts, prayers and humanity with the people of Japan.

Another quote that helps me to commit to my actions;
"I fear not the man who has practiced 10,000 kicks once, but I fear the man who has practiced one kick 10,000 times."

MANY MORE PICS AFTER JUMP!

Wearing a new bodylace...named Amaterasu... after the Japanese Sun Goddess...
Entirely coincidental as I had created this on Thursday March 10th.
What was also entirely coincidental was me wearing my favourite (DIY) Bruce Lee tank and us going to Chinatown for dinner (earlier) tonight!

I/we miss living in Asia* and SE Asia.
I miss the hustle, the bustle, the thrum in the air, the slight 'danger', the constant activity, the smells, the sounds, the dichotomies...
So Friday night at Chinatown Markets (in Sydney) then dinner at our favourite Malaysian restaurant, is something we do often, just to get that "back in Asia" buzz.  It's not quite the same.
The sights are similar (if you let your imagination flow), smells too but... it's all filtered... too clean!  By that I mean... too rigid.

These are 2 of my favourite stallholders!  Hello!  They have the best earrings!

...and hats!

I'm breaking new ground here.  I very rarely upload candid, not well lit, shots on my blog.
I am recovering from the effects of my fructose allergy, I'm sure you can see the evidence on my face and arms.  Things like this don't stop me from living my life.

I may have swollen scabby eyes and leopard print skin (such a trendsetter!)
but I still walk down a street like I own it!
That's one good thing about having a healthy ego... no one has the power to make you feel bad about yourself except yourself... and like hell I'm going to waste my time doing that.
In the light of world happenings... who gives a damn about what you look like.  I feel like.  I feel love.

Despite its blurriness, I like this image.

I very rarely ask my husband to take candid pics of me specifically for the blog.  Posed pics yes and he's very good at that (but I will always prefer my self-click method).
It's a strange feeling being nonchalant yet aware... because I did have to fight being aware of the camera and therefore 'posy'!  Strangely I was rather shy!!  And dweeby!!

"Within The Four Seas All Men Are Brothers"

*Asia... the term is actually a Western concept and creation.
The people of the countries of Asia/SE Asia do not see themselves collectively.
This would be like calling all white people Europeans.
...that would also be like saying that brothers are exactly the same...

Coincidence. We are both wearing similar pants, similar color on our latest blog posts.

Belated Happy Woman's day Dusk- to the woman who is such an inspiration.

Oh I love these candid shots of you Dusk - you are such a natural amazing beauty. I adore those pants - they remind me of the yoga pose pants. Hope your allergy is healing well.

I like the candid shots...and I want to know more about the fructose intolerance. In the USA, we do often refer to Americans as of European descent, so we do in fact "lump" people together, but I do see your point.
