Victorian Era

One of my favourite places, for palate and sensory delights, is The Victoria Room in Sydney.  Going by my escapades the last month, one would think I practically live there...

I absolutely love the intimate feel of this award winning bar and restaurant and am right at home in the opulent British-Raj decor!
Think sultry topaz tones, lush (because they're always lush!) palms, cozy cocoons of luxurious sofas and gilded chairs and private tables for two or ten.  A perfect setting for the delicious Mediterranean cuisine and oh GOD do not start me on the Goats Cheese Ball with Onion Jam and Truffle Infused Honey*... ecstasy...

I have enjoyed many days and nights here, including High Tea (weekends) and post theatre supper at 1 am but my most favourite time to be at The Victoria Room is on a Sunday night for Performance Carnival which is where I was last night with my gorgeous gal pals) and what a glorious setting this is for a sisterhood soiree!  BUT... it is also a most romantic, sensual setting... nudge, nudge, wink, wink...

Described as being a "Spiegeltent meets Bohemia spectacular", it is a magical, fabulous night and ahh the theatricality of it all suits me to a tea.
Every Sunday night sees different performers/performances -singers, dancers, aerialists, hula-hoopists(?), burlesque, bellydance, etc- and it's just pleasingly mindboggling to see trapeze acts in the middle of a restaurant (see images after the jump) and mindboggling-ly (!) pleasing to have a Mentalist/magician try and mess with your mind.  Apparently I'm one of those that can't be hypnotised nor influenced.  Dude.  I could have told you that...

I am however completely beguiled by the magical atmosphere of The Victoria Room.
NOTE: This is not a paid review nor expected.  I just really love the place.

Oh and my outfit?  An homage to the Victorian belle epoque...

MORE IMAGES AFTER JUMP!
*goats cheese balls...like dessert...for non-sugar people like me... this is heaven.
This is a divine gold leather neckpiece, last seen here.

The cocktails are divine sounding and award-winning, the cocktail list is an epic but alas I'm not much of a cocktail drinker (anymore)... they do also have an extensive winelist and delicious mocktails.  The Sunday night menu is not as comprehensive as the regular dinner menu but still has many delectable and delightful palate pleasers.  Have I mentioned the Goats Cheese Balls?

My gorgeous gal pals.  Two of the most amazing young women ever!  T, K [and me!]

Your outfit is absolute PERFECTION! The pop of red peeping out of the deep slit is incredible, and long skirts, interesting collars, and gorgeous necklaces make me swooon. The Victoria Room sounds amazing, I would love to go there one day! My one visit to Sydney several years ago was so short that we didn't have time to go to the interesting places that the locals frequent ;)
