Day 2. Alice McCall Cruise 15/16 'One Track Love'.
When you're photographing you're focused (ha!) on getting the shot, you register flashes of colour, design etc but you rely on your images to tell the complete story later. My initial reaction to this collection was delight.
I loved some of the disco lurex pieces but the rest... a huge disappointment for me. A rehash of what Sportsgirl et al do every year and really just a rehash of her usual 'Alice in Funderland' girl gear, using new 'adult' material; metallic brocade, lace, crochet.
The colour scheme was scattered (primary AND pastel??) and the demographic confusing. Look, it was lovely but smacked of riding the laurels complacency.
It was the damn smiling! I was bedazzled by the smiles! This to me was the most 'original' part of this collection. The models all (mostly) smiled! It worked fabulously!
Imbued the collection with the fresh flair the actual collection lacked. 'One Track Love' alright. I fell under the spell of the Smile High Club.
